1) System Requirements

=====================================================================

1.1 Operating Systems
---------------------

Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000

Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP (SP 2)

Microsoft Vista(TM)

1.2 Minimum System Requirements
-------------------------------

CPU: Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz Single Core processor or equivalent (2.8 Ghz for Vista)
RAM: 512 MB or more (1 GB for Vista)
Disc Drive: 8x or faster DVD drive
Hard Drive: 10.5 GB or more free space
Video: DirectX 9.0c compatible (see below)
Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
Input: Keyboard or dual-analog gamepad

Video card with 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets is required:

ATI x1300 or greater;
NVIDIA 6600 or greater;
DirectX 9.0c compatible card with Shader Model 3.0 support.

Important Note: Game requires Internet connection for activation

1.3 Recommended System Requirements
-----------------------------------

CPU: 3 GHz Dual Core processor or equivalent
RAM: 2 GB
Disc Drive: 8x or faster DVD drive
Hard Drive: 10.5 GB or more free space
Video: Shader Model 3.0 support with 512 Ram (Nvidia(R) Geforce(R) 7900 GT or better)
Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Input: Dual-analog gamepad

1.4 DirectX
-----------

DirectX 9.0c or DirectX 10

=====================================================================

2) Performance

=====================================================================

2.1 Resolution
--------------

It is recommended that when running the game on a minimum specification machine, screen resolutions of either 640x480 or 800x600 be used. On a recommended specification machine resolutions of 1152*864 should provide good performance. On a high end machine 1280*1024 on a standard 17 inch LCD monitor will give very good performance.

2.2 CPU Speed
-------------

NBA 2K10 is optimized for dual core machines. If the game is run on a single core machine, a processor of 2.4GHz or better is required to get reasonable performance. The higher the clock speed of the processor the better the game will run. Most dual core machines will be optimum for NBA 2K10.

NOTE: Performance is likely to be significantly slower with certain laptop video cards/processor configurations. Please ensure that your system configuration is in-line with at least the minimum system requirements.

2.3 Memory
----------

Memory or RAM can sometimes greatly affect game play. Machines with less memory will access their hard disk more frequently to load data, which causes sporadic pauses in game play. Machines with a lower end processor and video card that has 256 MB of RAM or less, should make sure that there are no active running programs in the background. This will optimize performance and make the gaming experience better for the user.

For good performance we recommend at least 1 GB of system memory. For optimum performance we recommend at least 2 GB of system memory.

2.4 Better Performance for your Game
------------------------------------

If performance issues are observed, it is then recommended that the user selects a lower screen resolution as well as lowered detail settings from the video options screens (Options -> Settings -> Video Settings/Advanced Video Settings).

=====================================================================

3) Troubleshooting

=====================================================================

3.1 Installer Issues
--------------------

The NBA 2K10 installer will automatically patch to the latest version of the NBA 2K10 game application as part of the install process. Important Note: Game requires Internet connection for activation.

If you are having trouble installing the game, please ensure that all active programs, particularly internet security programs, are closed prior to installation.

3.2 Video Card Issues
---------------------

You can determine what video card is installed in your computer by right-mouse clicking on "My Computer" and choosing the "Properties" option. Once the "System Properties" menu appears, left-mouse click on the "Hardware" tab and choose the "Device Manager" option. Select "Display Adapter" to view your machine's video card. Search the web for your card to download updated drivers.

After installing updated drivers you should also reinstall the current version of DirectX. You can download the most current version at: www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx

Reboot the computer after installing new drivers or DirectX. This will ensure that any modified Windows files are fully updated or installed properly, prior to playing NBA 2K10.

NOTE: Section above is written for Windows XP users. Other Windows Operating Systems may perform differently.

3.2.1 Shader Model 3.0 Support
------------------------------

NBA 2K10 requires a video card with Shader Model 3.0 support in order to run.

3.3 Sound Card Issues
---------------------

You can find out your machine's sound card by right mouse clicking on "My Computer" and choosing the "Properties" option. Once the "System Properties" menu appears, left mouse click on the "Hardware" tab and choose the "Device Manager" option. Select "Sound, video and game controllers" to view your machine's sound card.

3.4 Control Issues
------------------

Some PC keyboards can't recognize 3 or more simultaneous key presses; the keyboard buffer for the system overloads and, in some cases, will return a system beep.

3.5 AMD Dual Core Timing Issue
------------------------------

Some older machines that have AMD dual core processors may experience problems running the game. If you have such a system, you should first visit the AMD website and obtain the latest processor drivers. You should only install this driver if you are confident that it is appropriate for your system (i.e. you have an AMD dual core processor).

3.6 Virtual Memory
------------------------------

NBA 2K10 requires virtual memory to run properly. If your virtual memory settings are not correct, you may experience stability problems.

To configure virtual memory:

On Windows XP

- From the start menu, open Settings/Control Panel.
- Double click the System icon.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Click on the Performance/Settings button.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Click on the Virtual memory/Change button.
- Select the drive that NBA 2K10 is installed on.
- Select the "System managed size" radio button in the "Paging file size for selected drive".
- Click the Set button.
- Click OK multiple times to return to the desktop.

On Windows Vista

- From the start menu, open Settings/Control Panel.
- Select System and Maintenance.
- Select System.
- Select Advanced System Settings.
- Click on the Performance/Settings button.
- Select the Advanced tab
- Click on the Virtual memory/Change button.
- Check "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives"
- Click OK multiple times to return to the desktop.

3.7 Installation failure
------------------------

If the installation fails for some reason then it is possible for the installer to be left in a state where installation can no longer be completed. In this situation it may be necessary to close down windows and restart the computer.

    @,

    :mrgreen: I think whoever built that PC is a very. very mean person.... GTX 295 + 9800GTX and a 9500GT???? Does he/she have any idea the tech & generation gaps here? Its not that bad, but you don't couple a Ferrari engine with an old, old car.... its not done. That said, yeah, you could run the game on any of those cards and even if you could SLI all three (which in practice will be like 4 cards since the GTX 295 is practically 2 cards in one), it'll be a huuuggee waste. Game with ur 295 baby!!

    4GB Ram
    Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT @ 512 MB

    It runs amazing except the problem with the game that it lags from time to time.

    Oh, don't feel bad about all the comments suggesting you might be a n00b or anything. None of us understood our computers on the first day. Rest assured, you can run the game. And I must say, your i7 is insanely over-clocked, even if it were an extreme version. Once its stock, I assume your cooling can handle it though so don't sweat it.

    Here is my current pc specs:

    Intel Pentium D 2.80GHz
    Mobo: Asus p5pl2-e
    Power Supply: 450W
    RAM: 2 GB
    HDD: 160 GB
    Video Card (current): Geforce 6600

    which video card should i buy to play nba 2k10? I am choosing among these cards: 9500GT, 9600GT, 9800GT or 250 GTS.

    Of course I would prefer the cheaper one. I am wondering if the 9500GT would be sufficient enough to play nba 2k10 in high or even max settings without noticeable lag in the game.

    Thanks!

    I Have Problems with my PC on NBA 2k10.
    I Have and Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe
    Athlon X2 6000+ 3.0GHz Dual Core
    GF 9800GTX+ Videocard and 9800GT as physx
    4GB Kingston Hyper X
    500GB HD
    Windows 7OS
    Gigabyte Gpower 2 Pro Cooler
    Antec Power Supply.

    It runs low 20 fps on stock 3.0ghz clock on high settings and 30fps at overclocked speed 3.42ghz.

    its frustrating that my slower pc run it on 34fps @ stock speed athlon II X2 2.8GHz 2GB ordinary ram, 250gb hdd and only a geforce 9500gt video card.
    What do you think is the problem of my higher end PC?
