Michael Jordan Nike Commercial remade using NBA 2K11. This is a recreation of my 2K10 version (so, a recreation of a reimagining of a Nike commercial to be exact, ha). I went with the same moments that I chose for the original because they fit so well with the audio, a couple heartbreaking moments for all MJ fans. The steal in Orlando, Game 1 of the 1995 Eastern Conference Semifinals - and Game 4 of the 1998 Eastern Conference Finals against the Pacers, where Michael's potential game winner rolled out. We finish off, of course, with his Last Shot as a member of the Chicago Bulls in the 1998 NBA Finals.
NBA 2K11: The Shot II
Game 4 of the 1993 Eastern Conference Semifinals saw Jordan once again drain the shot at the buzzer to eliminate the Cleveland Cavaliers from the Playoffs. This time hitting the game winner over "The Jordan Stopper" Gerald Wilkins.
NBA 2K11: Jordan Posterizes Mourning
Michael Jordan jams over Alonzo Mourning. The exclamation on a 52 point game, that saw the Bulls defeat the Hornets 123-108 - March 12th, 1993.
NBA 2K11: Michael Jordan In New York
I knew I had to redo this one for 2K11, took a bit longer to do than I expected but I think it turned out good. MJ always thrived when playing in Madison Square Garden. Featured here is Jordan's First Game at MSG in 1984, The Posterizing Dunk on Ewing in 1991, The 55 Point Comeback in 1995, and his Last Game at MSG as a member of the Chicago Bulls in 1998. As well as a couple other moments sprinkled in.
Game 3 in the 1st Round of the 1991 NBA Playoffs brought about one of Jordan's signature moments. With under a minute to go in the first half, Jordan escaped the smothering D of Starks & Oakley, then dunked right over Patrick Ewing for the basket and the foul. The Bulls went on to win the game and knock off the Knicks, on the way to their first Championship.
NBA 2K11: Let Your Game Speak
Michael Jordan Nike (Air Jordan XXI) commercial re-created in NBA 2K11. I've had my eye on this one from the start, I just had to work up to it by doing all the classic moments depicted in it first. And no, I never once considered trying to make little kid CAPs to do this with... perhaps a little nod to that by slipping Muggsy Bogues in there though haha.
NBA 2K11: Jordan's Last Dance
Michael Jordan's last shot as a member of the Chicago Bulls, defeating the Utah Jazz in Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals to capture his 6th and final NBA Championship, re-created in NBA 2K11. This is one I've done every year in one form or another. I know people will ask "where's the push-off?", the left hand swipe I used to simulate that for 2K9 and 10 was removed from the step-back animation this year. So I knew I had to at least get Russell to fall this time.
NBA 2K11: The Shot
Michael Jordan hits "The Shot" over Ehlo, eliminating the Cavs from the first round of the 1989 NBA Playoffs. Re-created in NBA 2K11. This is one I've been wanting to do again since 2K8, I've been waiting for the short shorts and we finally got it. Funny enough though, the famous jump celebration is in the long shorts, since the only way I could get that animation was from "The Last Dance" Challenge.
NBA 2K11: Maybe It's My Fault
Michael Jordan Nike commercial re-created in NBA 2K11. Much like my "Look Me In The Eyes" video, I had to take the audio and match the video to it's context, since the ad featured no game footage. I was able to recreate the first two shots though, with some help from Google Earth's 3D buildings of Chicago. And inspired by the recent mashup of this and the "What should I do?" ad, I had to throw LeBron James in there at the end.
NBA 2K11: Frozen Moment
Michael Jordan Nike commercial re-created in NBA 2K11. This one has been requested a lot, and I was still in the commercial-making mood I could've kept all the reaction shots inside the arena, but I thought I would have a little fun with it by dusting off my copy of GTA IV for those. Even Niko loves Jordan! haha.
NBA 2K11: Jordan vs Jordan
"23 vs 39" Michael Jordan Gatorade commercial re-created using NBA 2K11. I initially thought I wouldn't be able to do this again in 2K11 because some of the animations I used in the 2K10 one were gone, but I found some workarounds, including playing one in reverse. I took a "Where Amazing Happens" approach to the final scene in the seats, which allowed me to get a closer look to the original, right down to the towel and gadorade bottles.
NBA 2K11 in 3D
Michael Jordan with his signature no-look over the head layup against the Knicks, in several 3D angles. The 3D was achieved in replay mode by recording one view, then shifting to a slightly different view to replicate the left and right eye. Not through the official 3D capability coming to the PS3 version this month, so dynamic physics like jersey movement don't match up perfectly here.
NBA 2K11: The Move
Michael Jordan with the spectacular mid-air switch layup during Game 2 of the 1991 NBA Finals.
NBA 2K11: Where Will Amazing Happen This Year?
"The Shrug" in the style of the NBA's "Where Will Amazing Happen This Year" campaign. I know everyone has and will be recreating this moment in the game so I decided to use it for this annual video, which has that little unique spin on it.
NBA 2K11: Look Me In The Eyes
Featuring young Michael Jordan. I was able to work around the red circle with closeups and raising the camera above it. I also found that the scoreboard often doesn't show up during replay in the 1st quarter if I put a second controller on the opposing team *shrugs* haha.
NBA 2K11: Where Amazing Happens
Another year, another "Where Amazing Happens" video to kick it off. I did some late changes in what photos to do once I got the game, I noticed they captured Jordan's yell from after he posterized Mourning so I wanted to feature that. Of course, Mourning was a casualty of losing the all-decade teams, 2K10 Zo makes an appearance.
He's Back - Jordan Returns in NBA 2K11
Michael Jordan NBA 2K11 Teaser Trailer made with NBA 2K10. If you've been living under a rock, Michael Jordan finally makes his next-gen video game debut October 5th, on the cover of NBA 2K11 and playable in the game! I was so pumped that I wanted to do something, so I put together this little "teaser" video using my CAP in 2K10. I made sure not to show his face much, but it is visible twice for a couple frames along with what I hope they add in 2K11 - MJ's signature tongue.
NBA 2K11 Wallpapers
Wallpapers from "NBA 2K11: Where Amazing Happens" are up, in the classic format and full.
Side note: I went into practice mode to see how an updated Jordan vs Jordan would work.... not good. A lot of the animations I used in the 2K10 one have been axed. That great swagger walk is replaced by a very robotic, slow, and twitchy walk. They can no longer just hold the ball and look, they're always bent over and moving as if being guarded. So while it would benefit obviously from the new Jordan models, the execution wouldn't nearly be as good. Downright ugly really.
